Toyota Recalls 191,000 cars for air bag replacements

Toyota has decided to recall 191,000 cars for airbag fixing because of worries that the airbags may not inflate. Auto-manufacturing giant has recalled the cars particularly in the United States and Japan. Company will fix the Takata airbags that may not unfold properly during car crash.

The company announced that mainly the airbags in 2003 to 2008 corolla models and 2005 to 2008 Matrix models were seen with the Flaw. 135,00 vehicles in the United States and others from Japan.

Toyota said; “The involved vehicles are equipped with a front passenger airbag assembly containing an inflator installed as a replacement under a prior recall.” But further added the high temperature condition may impact in the unfolding of bags. That can cause injury during a crash but Toyota didn’t report whether any incident happened.

Toyota will offer to replace airbags without any cost and have started contacted the Toyota Corolla and Matrix owners via mails. The Company has recommended the owners to visit Toyota.com/recall or nhtsa.gov/recalls to check whether their car needs repair. Owners will be required to enter Vehicle identification number or number plate information.

In case you don’t know, Takata airbags are already under the scrutiny of Many car manufacturing companies after significant cases of defects. In 2018 an Arizona citizen was died in an exploding Takata airbag inflator. That was not the first case, the total death toll with Takata is said to be 24.

Honda had reported 14 deaths and more than 200 injuries in March this year particularly in United States related to Takata airbag driver’s front inflator explosions. Then at the end of June Honda announced to recall 1.6 million vehicles to replace dangerous Takata airbags for free.
